Making better choices.

2015,
It’s probably the worst time for body images. The social network is full of unrealistic standards of beauty. The  thigh gap, the coin challenge, the zero size fad… It’s all a very dark place to be in. To make things worse, there is constant struggle to trend on the social media, gather maximum likes, this dark place flues on comments and adoration by the virtual world. Sure everyone likes to look good, but at what expense?

Back in college as part of our sociology paper we were asked to put up a presentation on any of the social issues. While my peers were busy working on the same old child labor and dowry subjects, I started my research my Bulimia.

Wikipedia explains bulimia as, also known as Bulimia nervosa, is an eating disorder characterized by binge eating followed by purging. Binge eating refers to eating a large amount of food in a short amount of time. Purging refers to attempts to rid oneself of the food consumed. This may be done by vomiting or taking a laxative.
The nasty Crash Diet:
During my research I came across an episode from Oprha. It’s probably the simplest explanations as to why crash dieting is the worst thing you can do to yourself. As put forward by Dr.Phill, every time you chose to cash diet and starve yourself, the body goes in a panic mode. It gets signals that since there is no food coming in, it gets a message that the body is shutting down. Since our body is programmed to fight for its survival, the next  meal you eat after a long gap of starvation, gets converted into fat by the body, as its trying to survive. So no matter what you eat your body will convert it into fat. Hence you don’t end up losing any weight, even if you are practically famished. This in turn puts you into a great psychological mess and you get sucked into this awful world of emptiness.

Prioritizing so much more important. Rather than struggling to fit into a certain size of dress how about we keep healthy goals such a being able to run a mile or swim 10 laps…

Do the crime, do the time…
If you enjoy to indulge in a little bit of gluttony, then make sure you work off those extra calories. A little indulgence will do no harm as long as you follow a healthy diet and an active lifestyle. Apart from the all the perks of felling healthy and full of energy, you will end up looking like a million bucks. Your hair will have an all new sheen and your skin will look like peaches. Trust me I say this from experience. So if there is a sure shot healthy way to look fabulous why resort to gagging on a tooth brush.

Cricket Connect with UC Browser

Cricket isn’t life or death,
It’s much more important.

That was exact emotion at the Kotak house during the cricketing season. My earliest memory of the game is where my PA froze in front of the TV, my teen brother who hated cricket and was a football fan instead was disowned by am dad for being a traitor. My mother who was exhausted from dishing out scrumptious finger foods and maintaining a steady supply of Rasna for the entire building that had set up a make shift camp in my living room. The energy in the room was bizarre. Not to mentions the after match analysis that could put Harsha Bhogles expertise to shame .

Every time an Indian batsmen got out, I remember Ba who was all of 79 back then would hurl choicest Gujarati abuses at the opposing team. At times she was far more interesting that the game itself. Every time we won there was a feast and every time we lost, we sulked our hearts out, but only till the next series was announced.

One of my most found Cricket memory was when Sourav Ganguly celebrated our win by removing his shirt on the Lord's balcony in London on 13th July'02 after India beat England in the Natwest triangular series one-day final. Winning the toss, England batted to build a huge total of 325. With a daunting target to chase, India started well with Sehwag and Ganguly going berserk. Although stuttering after a brief collapse at 146-5, our survivors  Yuvraj & Kaif bailed us out and scripted an epic victory to win the Natwest Trophy. After 13 years, I still have goose bumps when I watch the final moments form the match that day, what a victory, what celebrations, Ah Memories...

Those were the days…
I say that because am married to a man, who like my brother, is also a traitor. He detests cricket and every time he catches me watching a match, he would sarcastically announce, its all fixed, don’t waste your emotions on this. It’s the time that I hate him the most…

After my marriage,  Every match season I miss my family immensely. I miss the phone calls from dad for quick match updates. I miss my grandma who did special rounds of her prayer beads just so that Indian could win…  I miss the bond that Cricket had garnered between me and them over the years…

Though I can’t go back in time and get it all back, R.I.P. Grandma, but I can still make the most of the situation. With the all new UC browser and its fantastic plug-in UC Cricket , I can still work and stay connected to the game.

Sure, I can recreate the same scene of my living room from 15 years back. But now since am connected to cricket via the UC cricket, all my match updates stay on my screen while I dish out another awesome post. So the next time around when India is playing, may be a Skype session with Pa would bring us back together, just like the old times…

Eerie to Airy.

1998, A torn ligament.

I vividly remember the pain, I significantly remember the unbearable cast itch but I specifically remember the citrus burst that hit me every time I visited my doctor for my follow-ups. Funny after all these years, the only memory attached to my broken leg is not the painful physiotherapy  or the long waiting hours at the clinic but the smell of his office. It smelled of oranges and lime, it certainly made my doctors visit more comforting.

Smell, good or bad can affect our mood to such a great deal. It can make or break an Impression in a matter of seconds. So when Blogadda contacted me to Review AmbiPur’s New Air Effects I was more than keen to take it up and see how it lived up to the claims.

The AmbiPur’s New Air Effects Review:

Mumbai rains + poor constructions + condensation + humidity =
A grumpy me.

Imagine living a cold damp room, where the flooring and the walls bleed dew. That’s the state of my bedroom every monsoon.  The wet room puts everyone off. The cold damp feeling is made even worse by the musty smell it leaves behind. I was excited to see if the AmbiPur’s New Air Effects would could uplift my drab eerie room.

The package arrived by evening, my son was quite put off when he discovered that it was an air spray and not a toy… Since all his toys are ordered online, he presumes that all packages that show up at our door are meant for him. He looks at the spray, pretends that it’s a laser gun and goes around the whole house shooting evil aliens. His fight to the save the Universe is short lived cause it’s time for his swimming lessons.

We get back home after an hour and the first thing that hits me as I open the door is the pleasant smell of jasmine. Honestly, I hate floral smells, they make my gag. But I was surprised that the AmbiPur’s New Air Effects Blossom & Breeze didn’t trigger my migraines but instead took me back to the tropics.

Impressed by its efficiency I went to check on the dungeon that we call bedroom. It didn’t magically wife out the moisture not did it fix my leaks, but it surely took away the unpleasant smell and replaced it something more welcoming. I did try a generic room freshener before the AmbiPur’s New Air Effects, it did work for the first half an hour, but after that i needed to keep respraying the room to maintain the fragrance. that was not the case with AmbiPur. One squirt and you are good to go... It truly eliminates odor rather than merely masking it... The husband approved my new spray and so did my li'l galaxy warrior. I would give the AmbiPur’s New Air Effects a 10 on 10 for its performance.

But why just stop there, I have been using it liberally in my shoe cabinet. Thankfully now I don’t have to reach for a gas mask every time I reach down for a pair. Wet shoes…. God save me....

The AmbiPur’s Air Effects spray can is fairly well designed and its prices at an attractive 250rs. for a 275g size bottle. I reckon this one should easily last me a monsoon, provided i can keep my galaxy warrior away from it...

This above post was a part of a product review for the AmbiPur’s Air effects in association with Blogadda.
